MUMBAI, Wednesday, Sep 10 – India’s natural rubber output fell 26.08% year-on-year in August to 51,000 tn as against 69,000 tn a year ago, data from the Rubber Board showed.
Output fell as heavy rains inundated the state of Kerala, and several rubber growers refrained from tapping due to low prices, dealers said.
India’s Apr-Aug rubber output rose 4.52% on year to 277,000 tn, data showed.
The country’s imports of natural rubber fell 1.7% on year to 42,499 tn in August, posting the first fall on a year-on-year basis since January. Imports in August were 13% higher than in July, which amounted to 36,997 tn.
No rubber exports were reported for August, as against 36 tn in July.
Rubber inventories were 185,000 tn at end of August, down 7.03% from 199,000 tn a year ago.
India’s rubber consumption in August was 85,000 tn, against 81,570 tn a year ago, but down 3.4% compared with 88,000 tn in the previous month.
