Sept. 10 — Rubber growers plan to disrupt production and shipment of top exporters in response to price slump, Perk Lertwangpong, president of Rubber Holders Cooperatives Federation of Thailand, says by phone today.
* Rubber groups to finalize plan by next week; more than 10,000 farmers may protest in front of processing plants of top rubber exporters
* Thai rubber output may drop ~30% as rain disrupts tapping, low prices discourage tapping, shortage of labor
* Export price of Thai rubber -1.8% to 53.35 baht/kg today, lowest since March 2009
* NOTE: Thailand is world’s largest producer and exporter of rubber; Thai rubber shipments account for 3.6% of the country’s total exports
