KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian rubber prices closed mixed yesterday amid thin trade, weighed by concerns on supply and the ringgit performance, a dealer said.
The dealer said demand was influenced by a report that rubber production in Vietnam and Cambodia was picking up, in contrast to that of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.
“However, the weakening of the ringgit against the US dollar had curbed the price from declining,” he said.
The Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 shed a sen to 489.5 sen a kg at noon while latex-in-bulk added a sen to 391.5 sen a kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 slipped 1.5 sen to 488 sen a kg while latex-in-bulk gained one sen to 392 sen a kg.
