BANGKOK, Dec 11 – Rubber exports from Thailand, the world”s biggest exporter of the commodity, could rise slightly in 2013 after seeing little growth in 2012 because of weak demand and government policies, the head of the Thai Rubber Association said on Tuesday.
“This year we could ship around 3.4 million tonnes, as we did last year. Exports could rise by just some 3-5 percent next year as demand is not very good,” the president of the Thai Rubber Association, Chaiyos Sincharoenkul, told Reuters.
The Thai government agreed this year with Indonesia and Malaysia to cut exports by 300,000 tonnes in an effort to prop up prices.
