BANGKOK, Oct 14 (Bernama) — Thailand will only release the rubber stockpile of about 200,000 tonnes at the right price, thus it will not affect the market price, Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha said.
He said the government was negotiating with rubber importers to persuade them to buy the commodity at a higher price to help Thailand as friends.
“If we can assure them of the rubber quality, they will be ready to buy our rubber at a higher price,” he told reporters after chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting here Tuesday.
He said the authorities would also be inspecting the quality of the rubber stockpile.
On the upcoming ‘Full Moon Party’, he asked the Sport and Tourism Ministry to monitor tourist sports, particularly Koh Samui in Surat Thani which is famous for the party, to ensure that it would be a drug-free celebration.
