ExxonMobil has restarted its Beaumont, Texas, ethylene plant after completing an unexpected outage in the early part of last week, sources said Monday.
“We have resumed normal operations following last week’s reported event,” a company source with knowledge of operations said.
ExxonMobil shut process compressors on November 10 after a power outage, a company filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality showed.
The Beaumont complex comprises two equal-sized steam cracking units with total ethylene capacity of 820,000 mt/year. Both plants went down for planned maintenance between April and mid-June.
In spot markets, November was heard in the bid/offer ranges of 55.75-57 cents/lb Mont Belvieu Williams pipeline, against no corresponding trades, while five December deals were heard at 55 cents/lb MtB Wms, after bid/offer ranges were heard at 54.75-56.25 cents/lb MtB Wms.
Platts assessed US spot ethylene at 56-56.5 cents/lb FD USG for November delivery and 54.75-55.25 cents/lb FD USG for December.
