KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian rubber market closed lower today despite the higher performance of the commodity on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), a dealer said.
He said the market was affected due to the stronger ringgit coupled with the continued weakening of crude oil prices.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 fell 2.5 sen to 492 sen a kg, and latex-in-bulk declined two sen to 350 sen a kg. The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 fell five sen to 492 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk slipped two sen to 349 sen a kg.
