AHMEDABAD – Anupam Rasayan India Ltd has started recommissioning of a unit at its Surat plant that was closed after a fire incident in September, a senior company official said.
“We have partially restarted it and (plant) would be fully commissioned maximum by end of January,” he said.
On Sep 10, a fire broke out at Anupam Rasayan’s plant in Surat in which four persons were killed and 20 others injured. The incident took place at one of the manufacturing blocks in unit 6 of its plant in Sachin, a town in Surat.
The company makes specialty chemicals and has six manufacturing units in Surat and Bharuch. The unit 6 had an installed capacity of 1,238 tn, nearly 5% of the total annual installed capacity of the company.
The Gujarat Pollution Control Board had also asked the company to pay 10 mln rupees as compensation for environmental damage due to fire.
At 1033 IST, shares of Anupam Rasayan traded 1.8% higher at 677.50 rupees on the National Stock Exchange. End
