Mich. Rubber Group to host Focus on Ferris on March 25
EAST LANSING, Mich.—The Michigan Rubber Group will host its annual Focus on Ferris Open House on March 25.
The ACS Rubber Division will present a course entitled “Introduction to Compounding and Testing of Elastomers,” from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. William Stahl of Rainbow Master Mixing L.L.C. is the instructor.
Cost of the course is $425 for Rubber Division members and $500 for non-members. Cost includes the National Elastomer Center Open House and Michigan Rubber Group social hour/dinner at the Holiday Inn in Big Rapids, Mich.
The Rubber Division will provide the course free for full-time students. In order to qualify, students must email proof of current semester class schedule to [email protected]. The first 20 full-time students to register will receive the Michigan Rubber Group social hour/dinner free.

Early registration available for Rubber Division meeting
AKRON—Early registration and housing is available for the ACS Rubber Division’s 187th technical meeting and educational symposium.
The meeting will be held April 27-30 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, S.C.
Sudhin Datta, a senior research associate from ExxonMobil Chemical, will receive the Rubber Division’s Charles Goodyear Medal, the organization’s highest honor, during the event.

Michelin exec to address World Rubber Summit
SINGAPORE—Luc Minguet, Michelin’s chief procurement officer, will be a keynote speaker at the World Rubber Summit 2015, scheduled for March 24-25 at Singapore’s EXPO Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The World Rubber Summit is being organized by the International Rubber Study Group and SingEx Exhibitions.
Minguet, a senior vice president at Michelin, will provide insights on how Michelin is putting its beliefs in sustainable mobility into action, the IRSG said, including outlining examples of programs and initiatives that Michelin is developing in its procurement chain to make travel more accessible and affordable. The summit’s theme is: “Productivity & Sustainability for Tomorrow’s Market—What drives it?”
Held under the umbrella of World Rubber Week, the World Rubber Summit 2015 will take place alongside Tyrexpo Asia, the Rubber Exchange Forum and other related industry seminars and networking receptions, the IRSG said.
The Summit will feature several panel discussions and topical breakout sessions. Confirmed speakers for the panel sessions include: Rajiv Budhraja, secretary general of India’s Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association; Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general of the European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers Association; and Sheela Thomas, secretary general of the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries.
IISRP launches website for April’s General Meeting
HOUSTON—The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers has launched a website for its 56th Annual General Meeting, to be held April 20-23 in Cape Town, South Africa.

European tire recycling group to hold conference
BRUSSELS—The European Tyre Recycling Association will hold its 22nd annual European Tyre Recycling Conference March 25-27 at the NH Brussels du Grand Sablon. The conference will examine the latest challenges and opportunities in the recycling industry.
ETRA has been running seminars and conferences for more than two decades and said it has played a key role in the development of the modern tire recycling industry, developing research projects, lobbying governments across Europe and taking tire recycling issues to the European Commission.
The conference is designed for those in the field of rubber recycling, including collectors, pyrolysis specialists, shredder manufacturers and polymer blenders. The conference will discuss issues surrounding the ongoing availability of tires for recycling. The latest developments in research and markets across Europe will be discussed, including the use of end-of-life tire related materials in concrete and in construction.
