Spot rubber lost ground on Thursday. Since tyre companies continued to wait on the sidelines, the market lacked genuine buyers to procure the raw material. According to observers, actual buyer quotations were much below the Rubber Board price.
The daily reference price for RSS 4 improved to ₹138.25 (₹137.10), according to the Rubber Board. The grade was quoted at ₹128 (₹131), according to traders. The dealers’ quotes were not available. February futures firmed up to ₹123.50 (₹122.66), March to ₹124.50 (₹123.09), April to ₹125 (₹123.48) and May to ₹126.80 (₹126) on the National Multi Commodity Exchange. RSS 3 (spot) closed at ₹115.21 (₹114.23) at Bangkok. February futures closed at ¥215.0 (₹111.74) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange. Spot rubber rates (₹/ kg) were: RSS-4: 128 (131); RSS-5: 112 (112); Ungraded: 100 (104); ISNR 20: 107 (107.50) and Latex (60% DRC): 82 ( 82.50).
