Elon Musk said X/Twitter should have a new CEO soon and added that the person should start in approximately 6 weeks. Musk added that his role will transition to the executive chair and CTO, overseeing product, software, and sysops.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the person in question is NBCUniversal’s head of advertising, Linda Yaccarino. She oversees about $13 billion in annual ad revenue and is known to have a very close relationship with ad agencies.
Interestingly, Ms. Yaccarino interviewed Elon Musk at a conference in Florida last week.
“Elon has committed to being accessible to everyone for continual feedback,” Ms. Yaccarino said onstage before adding: “If freedom of speech, as he says, is the bedrock of this country, I’m not sure there’s anyone in this room who could disagree with that.”
Following Musk’s tweet, Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares jumped and closed the day with more than a 2% gain, as investors responded positively to the news that Musk’s shifting role would free up additional time for him.
Tesla shares are up a further 1% in pre-open Friday after the company raised prices of its Model X and Model S cars in the U.S.
