NEW DELHI – Prices of mill-quality wheat rose today in the wholesale markets of Kota, Rajasthan, while those of maize remained steady in the key markets across the country, traders said.
Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose in Kota today due to firm demand from millers, Aniket Mehta, a local trader said. In Kota, wheat was sold at 2,000-2,050 rupees per 100 kg, up 25 rupees from Thursday. Arrivals were pegged steady at 60,000 bags.
Wheat prices were unavailable in wholesale markets of Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
The Centre’s wheat stocks fell 4.3% on year to 29.03 mln tn as of May 1, according to data from the Food Corp of India. However, stocks rose 247.8% from the previous month.
The government has estimated wheat production in 2022-23 (Jul-Jun) at a record high of 112.2 mln tn, 4.2% above the output of 107.7 mln tn the previous year.
Prices of MAIZE in Purnea, Bihar, remained steady today on regular demand and supply, traders said. Maize was sold at 1,750-1,800 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals of the grain were also pegged steady at 3,000 bags.
Similarly, in Davanagere, Karnataka, maize prices were unchanged at 1,450-1,950 rupees per 100 kg as supply was sufficient to meet the demand. Arrivals, however, were pegged at 2,000 bags, down 5,000 bags from Thursday, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.
