One of the most sensational motorsport spectacles of the year is heading to the starting grid: this year’s 24-hour race on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife will start on May 20th. Once again, the teal and blue race cars from Falken are entered for the race: two Porsche 911 GT3 R Type 992 cars aiming for victory.
This year, two Porsche 911 GT3 R will go on the attack at the probably most demanding race track in the world. With up to 565 hp from 4.2 litres of displacement, the #33 line up, driven by Klaus Bachler, Sven Müller and Alessio Picariello, has plenty of sports car experience and power. In the #44, Tim Heinemann, Nico Menzel, Joel Eriksson and Martin Ragginger offer a great balance of speed and experience.
After a successful dress rehearsal at the ADAC 24h Qualifier event, resulting in a pole position on Sunday and a highly deserved podium finish in the race, Falken is confident going into the endurance classic. Good preparation enabled Falken Motorsports to secure prestigious grid positions for both cars in top-30 qualifying and improve the chance of a good grid position.
Falken has been taking on the challenge at the Nürburgring since 1999. The appearances of the Nissan Skylines and BMW M6 GT3 in the Falken factory colours have left a lasting memory for fans.
This year, Falken is also celebrating its 40th anniversary with its guests and fans around the track: Falken was founded in 1983 in Japan as a high-performance brand, the same year the first Falken tyre was launched.
Falken is also strongly represented off the racetrack during the weekend. Once again, the popular Falken Drift Challenge will provide a great spectacle on Friday evening: After Top Qualifying 2, the Falken Drift Show including Falken’s own team consisting of Remmo Niezen, James Deane, Mark Vissers, Rohan van Riel and Rick van Goethem will take place on the Müllenbachschleife. There will also be a new range of souvenirs for sale at the Falken merchandising stand in the paddock.
On www.nitro-tv.de, the mega-event in the Green Hell can be followed in real time from the comfort of the sofa. In addition, Falken provides further updates on its social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and the website).
“As a performance brand, motorsport has a high priority for Falken,” emphasises Markus Bögner, COO President and Managing Director of Falken Tyres Europe GmbH. “Falken is hoping for a successful outing for its pair of race cars and a fair race in hopefully not too typical, mixed Eifel weather.”
