NEW DELHI – Prices of mill-quality wheat rose today in Kota, Rajasthan, while those of maize remained unchanged in key markets of Davanagere, Karnataka, market players said.
Mill-quality WHEAT was sold in Kota at 2,150-2,200 rupees per 100 kg, up 80 rupees from Friday, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. Arrivals of the grain were pegged at 40,000 bags, down 10,000 bags from Friday, Mehta said.
Prices of mill-quality wheat were unavailable in the wholesale markets of Indore in Madhya Pradesh as markets were shut on account of ‘Mahesh Jayanti’, traders said.
The government has estimated wheat production in 2022-23 (Jul-Jun) at a record 112.7 mln tn, 4.2% above the output of 107.7 mln tn in the previous crop year.
The US Department of Agriculture has estimated global wheat production in 2023-24 at 789.8 mln tn, higher than the estimated 788.3 mln tn in 2022-23.
Prices of MAIZE remained steady today in Davanagere, Karnataka, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader. Maize was sold at 1,850-2,050 rupees per 100 kg, steady from Friday and arrivals of the grain were also pegged steady at 1,000 bags.
Maize prices were unavailable in key markets of Purnea, Bihar.
