NEW DELHI – Prices of mustard seeds rose today in key wholesale markets of Jaipur in Rajasthan, local traders said.
MUSTARD seeds were sold at 5,975-6,000 rupees per 100 kg, up 75 rupees from Wednesday despite rise in arrivals, said local trader Rupesh Parekh.
Arrivals of the oilseed in Jaipur were pegged at 225,000 bags (1 bag = 84 kg), up 25,000 bags from Wednesday. Arrivals across the country were estimated at 425,000 bags, up 25,000 bags from the previous day of trade.
In its third advance estimate, the government has pegged the country’s mustard production for 2022-23 (Jul-Jun) at 12.5 mln tn, against 12.0 mln tn in the previous crop year.
SOYBEAN was sold at 1,008-1,013 rupees per 10 kg in the key wholesale markets of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, up 5 rupees from Wednesday, according to a poll by Cogencis.
So far this kharif season, farmers have sown soybean across 12.37 mln ha, up from 12.25 last year, according to data from the agriculture ministry.
The US Department of Agriculture has projected global oilseed output for 2023-24 (May-Apr) at 663.7 mln tn, down from 667.3 mln tn forecast in July. The agency has projected global soybean output at 402.79 mln tn, lower from 405.31 mln tn estimated in the previous forecast. End
