SHANGHAI: Shanghai stocks dropped 1.46 percent by the break on Tuesday as investors took profits after the market reached a three-week high the previous day, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 58.34 points to 3,935.33.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China’s second exchange, sank 1.20 percent, or 27.87 points, to 2,299.62.
