BANGKOK, Sept 30 (Bernama) — Thai farmers, facing the problem of low rubber prices, is asking the government to subsidise the rubber price so that they will get 60 baht per kilogram (kg).
The rubber farmers’ associations from 16 southern provinces, led by Sunthorn Rakrong, Wednesday handed over a letter to the Minister of Cooperatives, Gen Chatchai Sarikulya, asking for help.
Sunthorn said the farmers wanted the government to make up the difference between market prices if they fell below 60 baht per kg.
The rubber sheet prices across Thailand today were quoted at 40-43 baht per kg.
