Washington — There are some new faces at the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc.
SPI announced March 18 the addition of Ashley Stoney as director of communications. Stoney comes to the plastics trade association from Widmeyer Communications in Washington, where she was the day-to-day lead for Burning Glass Technologies, the Software Guild and Hollins University.
She also has worked at Hill+Knowlton Strategies, where she worked to develop communications aimed at rebuilding public trust and credibility for nuclear energy in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima disaster in Japan, according to SPI. Stoney is a D.C. native and graduate of Howard University.
Earlier this month, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Brad Williams departed the plastics industry for a vice president of business development position with Argentum, formerly the Assisted Living Federation of America, a national trade association exclusively dedicated to professionally managed, resident-centered senior living communities.
The changes follow the departure of Gene Sanders, senior vice president trade shows and conferences, who left late last year after eight years at SPI and the most successful NPE to date, and the promotion of Mark Garrison to senior vice president of business development and membership.
