Davis-Standard LLC PT Kencar Sukses Investama has added a six-layer cast polypropylene film line from David-Standard LLC.
Indonesian film extruder PT Kencar Sukses Investama is expanding capacity to become, it claims, the first manufacturer of six-layer cast polypropylene films in Southeast Asia.
The Sidoarjo, Indonesia-based company is adding two cast film lines from U.S. manufacturer Davis-Standard LLC, to handle increased demand from the local market, including in food packaging.
“The Southeast Asia flexible packaging market is growing at more than 8 percent per year and Kencar has outpaced that growth by more than 50 percent,” said Kencar President Eddy Soelayman, in a Sept. 13 news release.
“We see a transition in the [cast PP film] market from commodity to high-performance films that have superior barrier, metal adhesion, gloss and heat seal properties,” he said.
According to Kencar’s website, the company formed in 2011.
Pawcatuck, Conn.-based Davis-Standard said Kencar currently has two of its cast film lines and will add the new machines in January.
Kencar said it was the first company in Southeast Asia to make five-layer cast PP. The new investment, Soelayman said, will “take that a step further by producing CPP films with unique barrier properties that allow converters to down gauge and reduce conversion steps to save cost.”
Kencar also manufactures cast polyethylene films.
