KOTTAYAM, FEB. 13:
Spot rubber continued to remain almost unchanged on Wednesday. The only gainer of the day was RSS 4 which increased marginally on covering purchases at lower levels. There were no fresh enquiries from any major consuming industries and the overall market mood was neutral amidst extremely thin volumes.
Sheet rubber improved to Rs 156.50 (156) a kg according to traders. The grade firmed up to Rs 157 (156.50) a kg at Kottayam and Kochi as quoted by the Rubber Board.
In futures, the February series closed at Rs 157 (156.98), March at Rs 158.90 (159.21), April at Rs 161.90 (162.27) May at Rs 164.15 (165.55) and June at Rs 167.50 (167.63) a kg, while the July series remained inactive on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
RSS 3 (spot) firmed up to Rs 177.89 (176.66) a kg at Bangkok. The February futures increased to ¥312 (Rs 179.56) from ¥310.01 a kg during the day session, but then slipped to ¥311 (Rs 178.98) a kg in the night session on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange.
Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 156.50 (156); RSS-5: 152 (152); ungraded: 146 (146); ISNR 20: 152 (152) and latex 60 per cent: 101 (101).
