State Housing and Rural Development Committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad said the projection could be achieved through an increase in commodity prices of rubber from RM5.50 to RM17.31 per kg.
He said the move by the state government to pursue the government’s efforts in setting up the secretariat for rubber price fixing mechanism would also help the rubber smallholders to achieve it,” he said.
Dzulkefly said this after a working visit to the Johor Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA) office here.
In a separate development, he said vacancies for 674 village heads in the state was expected to be fully filled by September.
The date of application closed on June 19 and the relevant authority was in the process of interviewing 1,496 applicants, he added.
