Bridgestone Corp. has won a design patent infringement lawsuit against China’s Qingdao Genco Industrial Group Co.
Bridgestone alleged that the Qingdao, Shandong Province-based Qingdao Genco Industrial Group copied a patented groove design on some of its medium truck tires, which were found displayed in a catalog.
The suit was filed and won in Qingdao City Intermediate People’s Court. Qingdao Genco Industrial Group reportedly does not plan to appeal.
“The Bridgestone Group will continue working to maintain and enhance the value of its brands by taking the necessary actions to protect its trade secrets and intellectual property,” the tiremaker said in a statement. “This includes reporting patent infringements to the appropriate authorities and seeking proper redress through the court system.”
