LEVERKUSEN, Germany—Synthetic rubber and rubber chemicals producer Lanxess A.G. said it is relocating its headquarters from Leverkusen to Cologne, Germany.
The firm’s global operations will be managed from offices in the Lanxess Tower, Deutz, as of Aug. 1, the firm said. Production won’t be affected by the move. The official opening of the new building is scheduled for Sept. 3.
The relocation marks “a new era beginning for Lanxess,” a company spokesman said.
The new headquarters is 22 stories tall and takes up an area of almost 410,000 square feet. It will bring nearly all management functions under one roof, as more than 1,000 employees will migrate to the new building.
Axel C. Heitmann, Lanxess’ chairman of the board of management, said that the building will become one of the most energy-efficient buildings in Germany and that Cologne is an ideal location for the company. He added that the benefits from being located in Cologne will assist the company in its course of growth.
