The Malaysian rubber market closed slightly lower today in tandem with the lower price on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange
(TOCOM) as the yen strengthened against the US dollar, dealers said.
It was reported that trade volumes are expected to be low and prices are locked in a narrow range ahead of the Haria Raya Aidilfitri public holidays on Thursday and Friday across several countries in the major trading hub of South East Asia.
The local market will be closed from tomorrow till Sunday for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays. The market will reopen on Monday.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 lost four sen to 718 sen a kg while latex-in-bulk fell three sen to 514.50 sen a kg.
The unofficial sellers’ closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 shed three sen to 722 sen a kg while latex-in-bulk eased two sen to 514 sen a kg.– Bernama
