NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat and maize were steady across key wholesale markets in the country today, traders said.
* WHEAT prices were steady in Kota, the benchmark market in Rajasthan, today as gains due to a fall in arrivals were capped by sluggish demand from bulk buyers.
* Arrivals were pegged at 7,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 10,000 bags on the previous day. Arrivals and trade remained thin today because of the ongoing Durga Puja celebrations, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader.
* Prices of wheat in Indore, another trading centre in Madhya Pradesh, were also steady today. Arrivals were pegged at 2,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), unchanged from the previous day, a local trader N.K. Agarwal said.
* MAIZE prices in Davanagere were steady due to thin trade amid higher moisture in the new crop. Arrivals were steady at 4,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), a local trader Shiv Kumar said.
* Maize prices in Bihar’s Purnea were also stable due to demand and supply parity, said trader Ghanshyam Yadav. Arrivals were steady at 15,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg).
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
