Leading tyre manufacturer Yokohama, renowned for its high-performance tyres, has signed a multi-year tyre and sponsorship deal with the Time Attack Organisation, one of today’s most engaging and significant motorsport phenomena.
As the new control tyre supplier, the agreement will see two of the Club’s championships – the Time Attack Championship and the Racing Hondas Championship – running on Yokohama tyres.
The UK Time Attack Championship attracts drivers and teams from all over the UK and overseas, all competing to set the quickest lap time on a circuit using production based cars, with no power or upgrade limitations.
The deal with Yokohama starts on 1st January 2025 and will run until the end of 2027 with options to extend. The series visits a number of the UK’s top racing circuits, including Brand’s Hatch, Snetterton and Oulton Park.
It will see Yokohama providing its road/track legal semi slick A052 tyre for the Club classes of Time Attack and all classes of Racing Honda’s while the Pro Classes of Time Attack will utilise both slick and wet racing tyres.
For track focused cars, the ADVAN A052 tyre combines impressive grip and superior handling in a road legal, track ready performance package.
Marisa Hever-Smith, Managing Director at Yokohama UK, said: “Yokohama is delighted to have been selected as the official tyre partner to Time Attack for 2025 and beyond. For many years our tyres have enjoyed a well-deserved reputation around the world among performance drivers on the road, and motorsport teams and competitors alike so this latest partnership is an ideal fit.
“Many Time Attack competitors have already been enjoying the phenomenal levels of performance that can be achieved on our tyres and we look forward to welcoming and supporting the rest of the grid who will now be able to share in and experience those similar performance levels.”
In 2010, the UK Time Attack Championship was formally recognised by the Motorsport UK – the governing body for motorsport in Britain – as an official form of motorsport, with specific rules and formats published in the official regulations.
Andy Barnes, Managing Director of Time Attack, said: “We have been quietly seeking to appoint a suitable control tyre and deal for some time and I am delighted that we have done so with Yokohama. What we have is the A052 being the best semi slick to be on right now and Yokohama coming towards us with their own ambition to get involved to highlight this.
“Many of our teams are already choosing the A052 having seen the performance benefits over others. This is a great opportunity for our teams as it will once again bring back a long term level playing field in tyre performance, coupled with the consistent support and supply on a tyre that is the quickest.
“Yokohama identified the power of influence we have in the tuning market which also led them to be a major sponsor of all of our events in addition to control tyres. It’s a very positive move for everyone involved.”
