Singapore based international tyre supplier Stamford Tyres has announced the sad passing of its Founder and Senior Advisor Mr Wee Kok Wah on Monday 21st October 2024.
Mr Wee has been the enterprising ‘driving force’ behind Stamford Tyres Group for the past five decades. He took over from his father who had established the company in the 1930’s as a garage service station and tyre retail shop and became the Managing Director.
With outstanding business acumen and ongoing passion, Mr Wee has steered the business continually forward with Stamford Tyres becoming a Public Listed Company in 1991. Over the past twenty-five years the company has continually expanded and evolved into today’s international operation specialising in the distribution and retailing of tyres and wheels plus the manufacturing of wheels.
Mr Wee’s enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge of the tyre business gained him impressive international recognition throughout the industry, and he was selected as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (in the category of Services and Business products) in 2004.
Mr Conson Sia, Chief Executive Officer at Stamford Tyres adds, “Mr Wee was an exceptional leader and an encouraging pillar of strength in business who dedicated his life to driving our company to its current commanding position in the world tyre market.
“For over 40 years his obvious affection, integrity and commitment to excellence ensured Stamford Tyres has been one of the greatest success stories in the Asian tyre market. To honour this incredible legacy, we all intend to continue to maintain and carry into the future his legendary vision and vales.”
