Do you have any redundant but working tyre changing equipment?
During April 2022 Mike Smith become involved in supporting the people of Ukraine in their conflict with Russia, initially sponsoring a family from the Kherson region to come to the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Mike wanted to do more for the Ukrainians and became involved with an organisation, “Supplies for Ukraine”, based in Ukraine, delivering aid to both military and civilian organisations.
Suitable vehicles here in the UK have been purchased and taken to Ukraine. So far, two ambulances, a fire engine and numerous much needed 4×4 vehicles have been acquired.
A challenge currently being faced is getting injured soldiers away from the front line and to medical facilities as quickly as possible. In just one week recently, one of the battalions they support, lost eight soldiers and had another 52 seriously injured.
Transporting the vehicles to Ukraine is also a significant problem. Once there, they need to be maintained. These vehicles have a very hard (and often very short) life and maintaining them is a real problem. Tyre damage is a major issue, and they need tools for repairs and to help them keep the vehicles roadworthy.
Do you, or someone you know have any old redundant but working tyre changing equipment or basic tools that could be donated? Supplies for Ukraine is planning to build a mobile workshop with the donations.
It will be based near the front line where it is needed the most. It is an ambitious plan; can you help to make this happen
The photo image illustrates the type of vehicle already taken to Ukraine. This pickup was a standard Subaru Forrester that was converted to allow injured soldiers to be evacuated, it has a fold out bed in the rear.
