NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat across key markets in the country were steady today, while maize prices rose in Karnataka’s Davanagere market today, traders said.
* Prices of MAIZE in Davanagere, were marginally up today on steady demand amid a fall in arrivals, traders said. Arrivals were pegged at 7,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg) today, compared with 12,000 bags on Monday. Arrivals were down sharply due to rainfall in the key growing regions, said local trader Shiv Kumar.
* Prices of maize in Purnea, Bihar were unchanged today on steady demand from bulk buyers. Arrivals were pegged at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), unchanged from Tuesday, said local trader Sumit Kumar.
* In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, WHEAT prices were steady as lukewarm demand was offset by a fall in arrivals. Supply was pegged at 2,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), compared with 3,000 bags on Tuesday, a local trader Jitendra Panwar said.
* Prices of wheat in Kota, Rajasthan were flat today because of steady demand from bulk buyers amid unchanged supply of the food grain, a local trader Aniket Mehta said. Arrivals were pegged at 7,800 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from Tuesday, Mehta said.
* Demand from domestic bulk buyers is expected to improve with an improvement in the quality of arrivals in the market, Kumar said.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
