NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat in Kota, Rajasthan, fell today, while they were flat in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. Prices of maize rose in Davanagere due to improved demand, traders said.
* Prices of WHEAT in the key market of Kota fell for the second straight day because of weak demand from overseas buyers such as Nepal and Bangladesh, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader.
* Arrivals were pegged unchanged at 7,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) today.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat in Indore were largely unchanged today despite lower arrivals. Arrivals were pegged at 1,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), down from 1,200 bags on Tuesday, said trader N.K. Agarwal.
* Prices of MAIZE in Davanagere, a key market in Karnataka, rose marginally due to improved demand today amid steady arrivals. Arrivals today were at 3,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), said local trader Shiv Kumar.
* Demand for maize is seen sluggish over the next few weeks as market participants wait for the good quality crop to reach markets before making fresh purchases, said Kumar.
* Prices of maize in Purnea, Bihar, remained steady today. Arrivals were also pegged steady at 4,000 bags, said local trader Kanhaiya Rastogi.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
