NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat and maize were unchanged across the key wholesale markets of the country today because of thin trade, traders said.
* Prices of WHEAT in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, remained unchanged today because of parity between demand and supply. Arrivals were also steady at 1,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), said N.K. Agarwal, a local trader.
* The near-term outlook for the commodity is bearish because of adequate stocks with millers and stockists. Fresh crop will hit markets in 3-4 months, Agarwal said.
* Arrivals in Kota, a key market in Rajasthan, were also steady at 1,000 bags, local trader Chander Khandelwal said.
* Prices of MAIZE in Davanagere, a key market in Karnataka, were steady today. Arrivals were also unchanged at 2,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), said Shiv Kumar, a local trader.
* Prices of maize in Purnea, Bihar, were also flat due to low demand from bulk buyers amid a decline in arrivals, said Ravi, owner of Purnea-based R.K. Trading.
* Arrivals were pegged at 1,200 bags, compared with 1,500 bags on Thursday. Supply of the coarse grain may decline even further over the coming days because of the ongoing lean season, and fresh crop will hit markets in the first week of April.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
