NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat rose marginally in Kota, Rajasthan today because of high demand amid a decline in arrivals, while those of maize were unchanged across major markets of the country, traders said.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT rose in Kota, Rajasthan, on strong demand from millers amid a sharp fall in supply, said Chander Khandelwal, a local trader.
* Arrivals were pegged lower at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), compared with 16,000 bags on Wednesday.
* Arrivals fell today as the weather is unsuitable for farmers to offload stocks in the market.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat were steady in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said local trader N.K. Agarwal.
* Arrivals were pegged at 8,000 bags, up 1,000 bags from the previous trading day.
* Prices of MAIZE were flat in Purnea, Bihar, due to a high demand and increase in arrivals, said Kanhaiya Rastogi, a local dealer.
* Arrivals were pegged lower at 45,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), compared with 22,500 bags on Wednesday.
* Prices of maize were also steady in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka. Arrivals were pegged steady at 1,000 bags, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
