The February US butadiene contract price settled 8-9 cents/lb ($176-$198/mt) lower than January at a 27-34 cents/lb ($595-$750/mt) split settlement, sources said Friday.
TPC Group settled down 8 cents at 27 cents/lb, Shell Chemicals and LyondellBasell each settled down 8 cents at 29 cents/lb and ExxonMobil settled down 9 cents at 34 cents/lb, sources said.
Producer confirmation on the settlements was unavailable immediately.
The settlements are void of any discounts or adders that producers might include, sources said.
The contract settlement is the lowest since May of 2009 when contracts settled at 27 cents/lb, according to Platts data.
US spot butadiene was last assessed January 23 at 34 cents/lb CIF USG, but it was heard Friday in the high-20s cents/lb as demand continued to be heard weak and supply ample, sources said.
The January US butadiene contract price settled down 6 cents/lb ($132/mt) from December at a 35-43 cents/lb ($772-$948/mt) split settlement, sources said. TPC Group settled at 35 cents/lb, Shell Chemicals and LyondellBasell settled at 37 cents/lb and ExxonMobil settled at 43 cents/lb, sources said.
Producer confirmation on the settlements were unavailable, and the settlements were void of any discounts or adders that producers might include, sources said.
