True to the motto “Why go far when the good things are so close!”, Kraiburg Austria has been cooperating with the Mattighofen vocational school for several years. Around 15 kilometres lie between the company headquarters and the school, which trains vehicle technicians, commercial vehicle technicians and professional drivers, among others. The new school year began for the students on 9 September. Kraiburg Austria is now preparing for the fifth visit by the apprentices. “Initially, the collaboration only involved us giving regular presentations at the vocational school and providing demonstration material,” explains Christoph Priewasser, Head of Product Management at Kraiburg Austria. “For the past year, we have intensified the exchange immensely and now give the students a detailed insight into the world of tyre technology and retreading directly at our company. Four dates are planned per year, for which we have created presentations tailored to the teaching content.”
Insights into the retreading process and sustainability aspects
The aim of the cooperation is to provide comprehensive information about the structure of tyres, the materials used, the various components and their functions. Particular attention is paid to the process of retreading technology and the information that this not only makes economic sense but is also an important contribution to sustainability and resource conservation. The students learn about the individual steps involved in retreading and find out how innovative techniques and high-quality materials can significantly extend the service life of tyres. The highlight of the visit is the tour of the factory, during which the prospective specialists experience the production process for retreading materials at first hand – from the delivery of raw materials to production and quality control.
Contribution to sound training and image cultivation
“An important component of knowledge transfer is sustainability in the production of materials for retreading,” continues Christoph Priewasser. “It is very important to us to communicate the great value we place on environmentally friendly production methods and the re use of materials, and the measures we take as a company to minimise our ecological footprint and protect the environment.” A positive side effect of this is not only the promotion of growth, but also image building for retreading. The response has been extremely positive: apprentices and teachers alike are enthusiastic about the practical experience. With regular visits to Geretsberg, Kraiburg Austria continuing to ensure that the next generation of industry professionals receive sound, practice-orientated training.
