NEW DELHI – Prices of wheat in Indore, Madhya Pradesh marginally rose on improved demand today, while maize prices rose in Bihar’s Purnea market, traders said.
* Prices of WHEAT in Kota, Rajasthan were steady on lukewarm demand. Arrivals were pegged at 7,500-8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from Monday, local trader Aniket Mehta said.
* In Indore, wheat prices were slightly higher due to good demand from bulk buyers and fall in arrivals. Arrivals were pegged at 2,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), compared with 3,000 bags on Monday, local trader Hiralal said.
* Prices of MAIZE in Purnea rose today because of improved demand from bulk buyers. Arrivals were pegged at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), compared with 7,500 bags on Monday, said local trader Sumit Kumar.
* Prices of maize were largely unchanged in Davanagere, Karnataka. Arrivals were pegged at 12,000 bags (1 bag = 65 kg) today, compared with 10,000 bags on Monday.
* Demand from domestic bulk buyers has fallen on year because of inferior quality owing to heavy rainfall in the state in the past couple of weeks, local trader Shiv Kumar said.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
