NEW DELHI – The prices of wheat rose in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, due to high domestic demand, while those of maize were stable across key wholesale markets of the country today.
* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT in Indore rose today on the back of strong demand from millers and bulk buyers, local trader N.K. Agarwal said.
* Arrivals were pegged at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from the previous trading day. Trade resumed today after being shut on Thursday for Amavasya.
* Prices of wheat in Indore have risen by 300 rupees in the past two months due to firm domestic demand and tight supplies, traders said.
* Prices of mill-quality wheat in Kota, Rajasthan, were unavailable as key wholesale markets were shut today on account of labour elections, traders said.
* Markets in Kota will resume trade from Monday.
* Prices of MAIZE were flat in Purnea, Bihar, due to unchanged demand and steady supply. Arrivals were pegged at 22,500 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.
* Prices of maize remained stable in Davanagere, a major market in Karnataka. Arrivals were estimated at 1,000 bags, unchanged from the previous day, local trader Shiva Kumar said.
* Prices of BASMATI 1121 PADDY and BAJRA were largely unchanged across markets.
